A. General
- The goal of the DEX is to let bachelor students, master students and young professionals experience what is possible within the field of data science and artificial intelligence. This will be done by business cases and presentations by companies, keynotes, training sessions, a talkshow, a business dinner and a company market.
- The DEX will take place on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
- The DSD has the right to cancel the DEX at any time due to any circumstances. Participants will receive notice of this at least five (5) days in advance of the event.
- The DSD cannot be held responsible in any way for any damage that occurs during the event.
B. Participation
- In order to participate in the DEX, signing up is mandatory.
I. On-campus (offline) participation
- The participant is offered the option to participate in a company market, business cases, presentations, training sessions, and a talk show on-campus (offline). The selection for the business cases, training sessions, presentations and talk show are done on a first come first serve basis.
- Cancellation of participation to the on-campus (offline) parts of the DEX 2024 without any valid reason is possible until Monday, September 30th, 2024, at 23:59h.
- Participants who signed up for an on-campus (offline) part of the program are expected to arrive ten (10) minutes in advance of the start of the program part.
II. Requirements
- Participation is only possible for (former) students and young professionals studying in, or interested in, the field of data science.
- Participants who are on the blacklist are excluded from participation in the DEX 2024.
- Participants who have a secured place to the DEX 2024, will receive an information email timely in advance of the event.
- By signing up for the event, the participant declares to accept the terms and conditions and agrees with them. No controversy will be taken into consideration.
C. Obligations participant
- In case the participant behaves inappropriately, the organisation can exclude the participant from further participation and place the participant on the blacklist.
- In case the participant is responsible for any damage at the inventory of the event location or any other location related to the DEX 2024, or to any belongings of DSD, D.S.A. Pattern or JADS, the costs will be charged to the participant.
D. Blacklist
- The DSD has a blacklist. This is a list of persons that are not allowed to attend the Data Science Days events (Data Science Start-up Night, Data Science Talent Fair and Data Science Experience Day).
- Cancellation of participation to the on-campus (offline) DEX 2024 without any valid reason after Monday, September 30th, 2024, at 23:59h will result in placement on the blacklist for at least one year.
- The participant is obliged to participate in the parts of the on-campus (offline) events they registered for. When the participant does not participate without any valid reason, the organisation is allowed to place the participant on the blacklist for at least one year.
- If the participant does not arrive in time for the on-campus (offline) parts of the program they signed up for, they will not be able to participate. They will be placed on the blacklist.
- Participants who are placed on the blacklist will be informed personally.
- There is no opportunity to discuss the blacklist.
- The blacklist is only available to the organization of the DSD and thus will not be published.
E. Privacy statement
- The DEX 2024 adheres at all times to relevant laws and regulations, among which the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
- Processing personal data of participants is limited to only the data that is necessary for the purposes for which they are provided.
- The DSD has taken appropriate technical and organisational measures to guarantee the security of personal data of participants.
- No personal data will be passed on to third parties unless this is necessary for executing the purposes for which they are provided.
- The DSD is aware of the participant’s rights regarding personal data.
- Personal data of applicants and participants are processed by the DEX 2024 for the following purposes:
- Administrative purposes
- Providing information
- For the above-mentioned purposes, the DEX 2024 may ask for the following personal data:
- Name;
- Address;
- Residence;
- Phone number;
- Email address;
- Bank data;
- Study data (e.g. study association, study phase);
- Preferences regarding the event itself (e.g. company preferences);
- Optionally any other special circumstances (e.g. allergies).
- At the DEX 2023, pictures and video recordings will be taken by a photographer. Additionally, several parts of the program will be live-streamed and recorded. It may happen that a participant appears on the screen, either in the audience or in an online fashion. By registering for the DEX 2024, the participant allows the organisation to place photos and videos of the participant on the website and to use those photos and videos for promotional purposes. The participant has the right to demand that their appearance in the pictures or videos will be blurred.
- The DSD declares that they will not publish imagery and video material that can harm the participant. What is deemed harmful imagery and video material will be decided by the DSD.
- The DSD cannot be held responsible for any consequences caused by faulty information details provided by the participants.
