Although data science techniques are perceived as promising, applying these often shows to be difficult. Damen Shipyard Group is an international shipbuilder with shipyards and service hubs around the world. The RD&I department is located at the head office in Gorinchem (NL) and one of the knowledge domains is Data Science. Most of the recent build ships are connected with the cloud to collect operational data. Together with third-party data, this data is used to improve sustainable ship designs, develop asset management, and new products for our clients aligning with topics such as energy transition and digitization.

De Toekomst van Brabant is a government trainee programme. In two years you will develop into a professional in the field of data and information management by working on current issues at various government organizations in the province of Brabant. Do you contribute to the future of Brabant?
Make impact with data!
Data-driven working is becoming increasingly important for the government, also local municipalities. You will have the opportunity to use your knowledge of data to contribute to social issues. Your own development also gets a boost because we offer an intensive training program.
3 projects
You carry out three projects of eight months each at different government organizations. Based on your talents and interests, we look at which project is most suitable. For example, you advise the Safety department based on data about drug waste dumping. Or you help optimally use the healthcare budget in a neighborhood with the help of a forecasting model. You give advice about the use of IT, data & information to make the work of your colleagues more effectively. In one project you may develop a prototype dashboard, another time you draw up an information plan. You gradually develop into an advisor, researcher, or project lead who can bridge the gap between data & information and social issues.
Training
With a small group of data & information management trainees, you follow in-depth training courses on data-driven working. You will work with data governance, data ethics, and communication, but also with practical skills in the field of dashboarding, Python, and R.
You also develop your personal leadership and professional skills. Almost every month you have two training days.
